I WON! Detroit Bike Giveaway

Reason number 5738 why I love my Social Cycling Club… I won an awesome handmade bike!

A stroke of luck!  I went on a bike ride with the Social Cycle Club and we ended up at a Frankenbike event, a monthly event where people can buy, sell, or trade bikes and bike parts.  I grabbed a free ticket at the raffle and ended up buying some FANTASTIC blinking LED lights for my frame.  Yes, I pimped my ride.  National Lampoon’s Christmas would be proud.  Avoiding getting hit by a car is no easy task.

So there were people and booths, chaos and bikes everywhere when the raffle winners were being announced so I handed my ticket to a friend as I proceeded to the bar for another round.  Lo and behold, in the midst of all the chaos a friend of mine managed to hear my ticket number and as I emerged from the bar  and called me up to the front as the WINNER of a brand new hand-built Detroit Bike was announced.  ME!

Hooray!  It was a 3 speed with internal gear shifter, coaster brakes, and a bike rack from the up and coming shop Detroit Bikes.  Light, smooth frame… but a little too big for me.  So I donated it to people in need of bikes… like my little brother.  This way I can ride with him when I go visit my family and he can take his dogs on longer walks and even ride his bike to work when the weather is nice.

  1. Hey there excellent blog! Does running a blog like this require a lot
of work? I have very little knowledge of programming however I
was hoping to start my own blog in the near future.
Anyway, if you have any ideas or techniques for new blog owners please share.

I understand this is off topic however I just wanted
    to ask. Many thanks!

    1. Yeah it gets confusing at times and there are a lot of options so I’d ask a lot of questions and find someone who can help you. So far I’ve just been doing this on the side so I’m no expert but you get what you pay for in terms of hiring others!
