Healthy holiday cookies made simple!
The holidays are here! We know what that means…. horrible retail traffic, stressing about presents, parties and travel, and THE WORST….those gluttonous holiday meals. Rest easy this holiday season guys because I’ve found the best recipe for healthy holiday cookies. I’ve done extensive research to find perfection. Which means I’ve eaten a LOT of cookies to get you the perfect, yet (sort of) healthy cookie recipe!
Why is clean eating tough during the holidays?
Travel, meals cooked by others, gatherings and events centered around foods, and a general atmosphere of indulgence surround the holidays. Clean eating is difficult and dieting is nearly impossible. Most people “aim to maintain” their weight throughout the holidays and rely on New Years Resolutions to balance the scales.
Butter makes things better. Sugar is hidden in most everything. Alternative “___-free” or “diet” foods usually contain other additives or just do not taste good. Most “healthy cookie” or “clean eating” dessert recipes are dry, taste like artificial sweetener, or just aren’t very dessert-like. No, oatmeal is not a dessert.
The BEST part is, they literally take less than 15 minutes from start to finish. Meaning preheating the oven to DONE. Using parchment paper to line the baking sheets makes clean up a breeze too.
The ground up oats have a flour-like consistency that pairs well with brown sugar. Stevia in the raw is designed for baking and gives a zero-calorie sweetener without the fake sugar taste. Eggs have countless nutritional benefits (including the nutrients and digestive enzymes of the yolk), chia is basically a superfood (omega-3’s, antioxidants, protein & fiber), and coconut oil is a source of healthy fats.
With no further ado, I bring you my favorite quick, clean and simple cookie recipe.
